LDAP with ActiveDirectory

Post by thehemi »

Has anyone done this? Can we have a brief how-to? :)

I select the Use LDAP Authentication option.
I enter the LDAP server IP address and the DN.
(eg- CN=<username>,OU=Users,DC=domain,DC=com)

I get no login prompt at all, just dumped into Cacti.
Apparently it's not doing something right, because I
also get "Undefined index: sess_user_id" errors.

Has anyone integrated Cacti with AD? How did you do it?
(I checked the documentation first, but had no LDAP info.)

I'm using LDAP authentication with my Win2K3 domain just fine.

LDAP Server: zeus.domainname.com
LDAP DN: <username>@zeus.domainname.com
LDAP Cacti Template User: GuestLDAP

I think your syntax for the DN is wrong.

Excellent, thanks! My LDAP authentication is humming now.

Although if I disable the Built-In Authentication option, it does
not prompt me for login credentials. Otherwise it works great.

LDAP in Cacti 0.9 will be a lot more robust. One of the devs posted a screen shot a while ago.... only if I could find the thread.

Well, to use with OpenLDAP, you need a properly format DN for authenication.

Something like:

Code: Select all

uid=<username>,ou=people,dc=domain,dc=com
Replace people with the container for our users, replace domain with your domain. So that "domain.com" = "dc=domain,dc=com".

Hope this helps.
