Net-SNMP or Windows SMNP ?

Post by arjen@arkois.nl »

Hello.

I'm using Windows 2003 Webedition.

Windows is having it's own SNMP service.
Cacti can work with Windows SNMP.

Why should I go using Net-SNMP?

Already thanks

I'm using the windows snmp agent for all my stuff.

The reason cacti supports net-snmp, is because thats what people use who are on linux, etc (yes, it works for win32 too but I dont see any reason why one needs to use it).

The ones built into PHP. I'm only using snmp v1, so no need for snmp3 features, which I believe one must use net-snmp.

Yes, net-snmp snmpget works on Windows.

I still have net-snmp installed and gave cacti the proper path to the binarys, even though I don't use them. When you enabled extension=php_snmp.dll in your php.ini file, you enabled snmp in php.

How do you say to cacti to use php_snmp instead of net-snmp O_o ?

You need to follow the installation instructions for enabling the PHP_SNMP.DLL extension file.
