RRD's not created by Cacti...but work manually

Windows 2000 Server
Apache 2.0.5.4
PHP 5.0.4

I have the apache service running under an account that can write to the rra folder.

If I take the string that is generated by cacti and run it manually on the command line it creates the .rrd file. However, cacti does not do it automatically.

I have created the scheduled task to execute the following:
D:\PHP\php-win.exe D:\Apache\Apache2\htdocs\Cacti\poller.php

It appears to run without errors.

Any ideas why the RRD's are not being generated?

run from the command line one time and post the STDOUT from it. when running from the command line, use the following syntax:

c:\php\php.exe poller.php

That way you can see the output.

My guess would be a NTFS permission issue with the user running the scheduled task and rights for the rra folder (aka they lack modify rights).

are u using rrdtool 1.2.11? if yes did you replace the cygwin1.dll in the cactid-folder with the one delivered with rrdtool?

Ran the following as suggested...

D:\PHP>php D:\Apache\Apache2\htdocs\Cacti\poller.php

Initially came up with error stating that it could not find cygwin1.dll. So, I copied that file into the PHP folder.

I ran it again and now it says cannot find cygpng12.dll

I am unable to locate this dll.

NOTE: It does continue on executing some portion of the script.

One thing I forget to mention last time: In the cacti interface I have the poller set to cmd.php instead of cactid - because the scheduled task does not run properly (exceeds max run limit) when set to Cactid.

rrdtool.exe needs the cygwin1.dll file, not PHP. When you got rrdtool-cygwin-1.2.11.zip, it should have come with the needed cygwin dlls. Find all other copies of the dlls and remove them on your system. Alternatively, you could do a base install of Cygwin and then you would not need to worry about the dlls (since they would be in the c:\cygwin\bin folder).

1) One thing at a time before you try to get Cactid working. If you manually run poller.php (with an admin account), do the rrd files get updated/created? 2) Once again, did you check the NTFS security settings on your rrd folder/files to make sure the user running the scheduled task, has the proper rights?

I downloaded the latest version of the cygwin release of rrdtool instead of using the windows native version (which is still only 1.2.10) and installed it.

I also had to put the new cygwin1.dll file into the cactid folder and everything updates for me now.

Hello!

I had the same issue, I used the wrong (original) rrdtool.

You have to download the rrdtool from http://www.cacti.net/downloads/rrdtool/ ... 1.2.11.zip .

Don't forget to copy the cygwin files out of this zip file to the cactid dir, too.

since cactid and rrdtool from cacti download site look for cygwin1.dll, I always gateway with putting cactid.exe and rrdtool.exe in .\cygwin\bin directory including cactid.conf .
