Hard Disk Monitoring

Post by michael dj »

Hi ,

I have been trtying to get help form these forms regarding monitoring the Hardisk as shown at
http://cacti.ne-worcs.ac.uk/graph.php?l ... rra_id=all

I am using a linux box. iI have installed cacti-0.8.6f.
But iit still ain't fixed, since a week. I either get a message when i click on the corresponding Hard Disk graph as below:
RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6f/rra/localhost_hdd_free_8.rrd': No such file or directory

or else after much of tweaking I culd manage to get some kinda graph like the processes single line graph but the the disk space values all wrong as per the graph when compared to the actuals.

So I had to redo the installation and i am still hung up with the previous error.
The thing I dont understand is that the Load Averagr, Logged in Users, Memory Usage and Processes just work fine after the install once the poller is run. But the same doesn't happen when I create the Unix Available Disk space template.

Data Source Debug

/usr/bin/rrdtool/bin/rrdtool create \
/usr/local/apache2/htdocs/cacti-0.8.6f/rra/localhost_hdd_free_8.rrd \
--step 300 \
DS:hdd_free:ABSOLUTE:600:0:U \
DS:hdd_used:ABSOLUTE:600:0:U \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:288:797 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:1:600 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:6:700 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:24:775 \
RRA:MAX:0.5:288:797 \

Could anyone of you members plz help me out with resolving this please.

regards,
Michael :)

I got the graph folks by clicking the New Graphs link as shown below in the Data source section

Custom Data
Index Type Data query data sources must be created through New Graphs.

then i was able to select the desired mounted partition for the check box options provided .

I ran the poller and then bingo i got the graphs :-? but a set of empty ones with 'nan' and '0.00' values.

I hope i get the data too iin a couple of minutes and keep this thread updated, but just incase i am ain't lucky enough  , plz show me the correct procedure..

Thanks in advance
