It will resolve itself in about 1 hour. But in the future make sure that you are updating the clock on that server on a regular basis. Reboot must have run a ntpupdate which altered the servers time into the past. When attempts where made to update the rrd files, they got this error, because they had later time stamps in them.

Did you wait at least 1 polling cycle?

Kyoto,

so you are trying to get SNMP OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.51.0 from localhost (127.0.0.1). To verify, that your local snmp agent supplies this information, try following command

Code: Select all

snmpget -c <community> -v 1 localhost .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.51.0
and replace <community> by the snmp community string (e.g. to be found in the device definition for that host, equals to "public" if not specifically set). If that command fails, cacti won't be able to report any values. Perhaps you should have a look to your local SNMP configuration.
As a starting point to verify your SNMP agent is working well, replace the OID by the string "system".

Kyeto,

and here it is again, my problem ...
Sorry, but I don't have any knowledge of the Debian distro.
Another try: Please replace the OID with the string "system". This should work at least to verify your basic SNMP installation. If it doesn't, please replace "localhost" with the IP/DNS Name of your box (perhaps Debian SNMP defaults do not allow to use SNMP on localhost like other distros). As far as this cmd will not work, you won't get any SNMP infos out of cacti (and there are lots!).
Some Debian/SNMP gurus out there?

Kyeto,
ok, this is definetely an snmp agent problem. That is, you are querying a system that does not have a properly configured snmp agent. Perhaps it is not started at all or not properly configured to answer your requests. As a starting point, you may have a look at /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf (at least for RH distro). There should be some inline documentation.

Kyeto,

Try these steps. Pare down you snmpd.conf file for testing purposes by:

1) # cd /etc/snmpd
2) # mv snmpd.conf snmpd.conf.old (saves the default debian snmpd.conf)
3) # vi snmpd.conf

Enter this line exactly:
rocommunity kyeto
then save the document as snmpd.conf and exit vi

4) then make the snmpd start on each reboot by:
# chkconfig snmpd on

5) Manually start snmpd:
# service snmpd start

6) Test that snmp is working
# snmpwalk -v 1 -c kyeto localhost system

If you still get no response from localhost, try rebooting and running the query again. I'm not experienced with debian but I've used the above steps to test snmp on several other distros.
