No Graphs - Upgrade Cacti-0.8.6f

Post by Phobos182 »

Upgraded from version 0.8.6c. Everything was working fine before. Now after upgrading, I have no graphs showing at all. Is anybody else having this problem? I've never experienced this with the time I've been using MRTG / RRDTOOL / Cacti.

1) Did you snip the part of your logs which contain the CACTI2RRD sections? If not, thats part of the reason why your rrd files are not getting updated (and I'm not sure how to make it start again).

2) Sure the security permissions on the folders are properly set?

3) Goto Settings->General and set Logging Level to DEBUG. Then open a command line and run the following one at a time.

"php <path_cacti>/cmd.php" -> post output
"php poller.php" -> post output

I feel like a tool. The RRDTOOL properities problem was caused by IIS LOCK DOWN utility removing execute / read permissions from cmd.exe. I removed those, and now RRDTOOL can graph. I had a lot of funky / glitchy graphs with RRDTOOL 1.2.11, so I went back to RRDTOOL 1.0.49, and that works fine.

Right now as I see it, no RRD files are being updated. Everything is blank. You can see the attached screenshot.

I have attached the output from cmd.php, and poller.php. There are many errors / warnings in poller.php.

Heh, now you really broke something :-P

Which php.ini file did you initially use? It's either that, or the IIS lockdown tool which has changed security settings causing the cacti poller to break.

The one that came with it (php-dist.ini). I modified it to add the snmp / sockets line. I will attach it as follows.

All pretty much looks the exact same as mine except, I've got fastcgi.impersonate = 1;

Did you properly set up the PHP ISAPI in IIS?

Double checked other security permissions on the cacti, php, rrdtool folders?

Hey BSOD!

Is PHP 4.4 working then?

He cautiously says Yes.

After I weed out my issues with switching to rrdtool 1.2.11, then I will be sure.

Using another server in the organization, I started with an absoutly fresh copy of Cacti, with a new MySql DB. First off, with PHP 5.0.4 I was using, the MIBSDIR environment variable pointed to the MIBS directory of PHP. This caused many problems. The final solution was to point the MIBSDIR environment variable to NET-SNMP's mib directory (In my case, c:\net-snmp\share\mibs). I experienced a problem with cmd.php, and switched to CACTID. It started polling fine, and working fine. I created a few graphs. Waited a few poller intevals, and everything was working.

Because I verifyied functionality, I switched the config.php parameters over to my old database, as well as cactid.conf, and copied the old RRD files to the RRA folder on the new cacti installation. It immediatly starts crashing on the poller like before.

I deleted all of my RRD files, and it's working. It looks like a rrd database problem with the upgrade. This really sucks since I have a year and a half worth of data in the RRD files. I'll see what I can do to get it working, but it's weird that after I delete the RRD files, it's back up and running.

I am now using 1.2.9 (works great). The 1.2.10+ was not working for me. Showing broken graphs (No text, no lines, etc..)

The version I was getting the errors with was 1.0.49

Yes, reverting to 1.0.49 will not work for any RRD files created with 1.2.x. They are not compatible.
