Using |query_field_name| to customize a graph

Post by dholden »

First, I have read the manual. It has some great info in it. There is very little info on the query_field_name. I am assuming i can do something such as |query_ifDescr.1| ( where ifDescr.1 is a snmp oid that describes an interface) and the value will be printed somewhere on the graph. Can someone tell me how I might print this in the title of a graph. It seems it can only be used in the "Text Format" and "Value" fields of the Graph Template. Is this true?

Variable replacement only works for values retrieved as part of a Data Query. You can use any fields defined in the resource XML where direction is defined as input.

The variable name will be "|query_<XML field name>".

Check out the Interface Data Query and it's XML resouce file. It will help you to understand how it works.

The variable name will be "|query_<XML field name>".
How can I replace a Custom Input Field for a Script/Command? If you look at the Screenshot I'd like to be able to replace |query_instance| with the value of the instance input field for graphs and data sources. Can this be done? It doesn't seem to work by just including "|query_instance|".
