Graphing several oid's on top of each other

Post by daga »

Hi all.

I am quite new to Cacti, and we have just started to set up all the graphing we need to get an overview of our network. I have managed to fix some problems with help from this excelent forum, so thanks a bunch to all of you who contribute.

I have however one final task to tackle before my cacti world is complete.
We need the ability to add two or more values and graph that in one graph.
Here is an examples..

1. I have two interfaces on a Cisco box. I have set up graphing on both these interfaces and graphs are looking good. But my boss is unable to add two numbers with a calculator, so i need to create a new graph that shows to aggregated values. That in this case shows the total bandwith on these two interfaces. I need this graph to show an aggregated graph for both inbound and outbound traffic.

I have tried to create new data sources and new Graph templates. But I dont seem to get it right.

I allso needed to add two graphs to the same Linux box as I mention above. I have the OID's that I need to poll the Linux box, but I am only able to add 1 "SNMP - Generic OID Template".
How can I simply add two graphs to a Device when i have the OID's?

OK... thats allot of questions at once, but does anyone have any hints?

Hi

you can use this graph template ("Templates to stack up to 32 devices in/out") : http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=7180

I made several copies of the "SNMP - Generic OID Template". Then I can created a graph template which uses the copies. That way I can easily change what things I want to graph/poll.

The template fmangeant linked too should work also.

YES!!

The "Templates to stack up to 32 devices in/out" is grate, in fact brilliant.

But something strange happend to my agregated graph. In "Graph Management", when i change to the "Zero Counter (zero)" on the "Data Source [zero]" droppdown menu, the 10 first "Inbound Data Sources" (from #01 to #10) seem to follow this choice.
Whatever I choose on these Inbound data sources are reset to "Zero Counter" when I return to the graph in "Graph Management".
This is not a big issue since it is just to juse the other 22 Inbound data sources insted. But I thought I would mention it. Maby just something that happens on my install..

The method of duplicating the "SNMP - Generic OID Template", as BSOD2600 pointed out, I actualy tried before I posted this question. But I didnt get it right. I have learned allot about graphs and data sources the last hour, so I think I will give it a go and see if I can manage it. I'l post a comment on how that turned out as soon as Im done.

Thanks again for excelent help. fmangeant is my hero of the day!
