Errors

Post by marwooj »

I have lots of errors on my switches.
How to determine if it is a network cable or NIC or port in switch?
And what is the different between those errors?

I know there is a tool to test NIC/cable, is somebody using it?

This one is pretty far from a cacti problem, but i'd bet you have
a speed/duplex mismatch between the switch port and the
connected device.. consult your HP Switch manual for a
firm definition of the nature of the errors the HP device is
reporting, and what HP advises you do about it ..

Could also have the wrong data source type selected (i.e. guage instead of counter) which could cause the "burts".

Didn't you me DERIVE instead of COUNTER? Which would of course, also indicate errors either way ;)
