How check oracle tablespace on AIX 5.2 with native snmp

Hi everybody,

I would like to know if someone has a good method to graph oracle tablespace with native IBM snmp.

I use Aix template and that's ok. But concerning oracle it's not very easy.
I've started oracle intelligent agent and dbsnmp process is present. It's seem that start_peer is not necessary on IBM plateform. Moreover I tried to launch it but in /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/network/snmp/peer/master_peer.out log's file I've got "Incorrect arguments" error.

So, I need help to understand how check Oracle mib with native snmp installed by Aix 5.2 system ? How add oracle mib ?? And how snmpwalk throught....

Let me start out by saying this:

Ok, now that everyone knows that, you have a hard task ahead of you.
Does the oracle agent support SMUX? If so, you need to add a line to the snmpd.conf or snmpdv3.conf, depends on which snmp agent you are using, to allow the oracle agent to connect to the snmpd agents SMUX.

Look at the end of the configuration files, there is usually a line like the following:

smux          1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.1.2.1.2       gated_password

I'm not completely sure how you will intergrate it, I have yet to do such a thing. You might have better luck calling Oracle support on the issue, as IBM support is, well, typically clueless when it comes to anything advance on the SNMP agents.

Me too rony, I hate Aix snmp agent but I must do with...

I'm using snmpdv3. The appropriate smux line exist in snmpdv3.conf but without success and I don't know how solve it !!

Oracle support says, oracle intelligent agent already use peer and the only thing we must do it's coded this line in snmpd.conf

smux 0.0 "" <IP address> # IP of snmp manager

I suppose that cacti server is the snmp manager ...

Do you have already checked oracle tablespace with cacti under linux ?

Well, your alternative is to use a script and get that data to or have the cacti server get it from the oracle server.
