Sorry, didn't read your posting carefully enough!
But I think it would be a good starting point. Import the XM files, change to paths to Windows style, change the Perl-Skript to parse the PING Reply returned by Windows (biggest effort I think).

ping latency and packet loss

Post by axioma »

based on http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=3517 i used http://www.guegue.com/~javier/cacti/ping_latency.pl.txt to graph the attached file.
i modified the file because -c (count) was too high, and packet loss was not being calculated right on my systems (FC and RHEL).
BTW, i've noticed you can ping any host (with no SNMP) if you leave the SNMP community string blank (at least in cacti 0.8.6d)

Hi axioma,

can you share your graph XML file ?

What have you modified in detail, because I'm also using FC3 ?

Thanks.

Hey there, good ping script.

The only question i have, and this is for anyone, is there anyway to have the hostname auto fill-in with the IP of the device your creating this graph for?

I want to add this to a lot of routers, but figured if the IP could autopopulate it would be easier.

Thanks again!

I am now starting to see this:

Code: Select all

02/25/2009 02:53:04 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[27] DEBUG: The POPEN returned the following File Descriptor 21
02/25/2009 02:53:19 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[27] ERROR: The POPEN timed out

Only for that one host. I am able to ping it fine though.

Edit: EBKAC, forgot to put the hostname in :)
