Host is down, how I get up again?

Post by raul.macian »

I have a printer that is turned off every day, I think that cacti might have detected it for 3 times and now doesn´t poll anymore for this printer. On the devices appear as down. How can I avoid this?

Don't turn them off.

(p.s. I know that's not the answer you were looking for. Cacti does recover nicely though)

So, is supposed that cacti sould detect that is up again and would collect data again? yesterday the printer was on all the day and the graph was not updated. Today is turned on too and the graph is still blank :(

That should not happen, is it still accessible via snmp?

that's horrible.

I have set the host down detection to SNMP+Ping and now my W2K server appears as down too, of course it has not SNMP cause I get the values from the perfmon counters.....

After a few poller retries the w2k appears as up again, but how the hell I set up the printer again??

Change Availability Monitoring to SNMP Only. This may resolve your problem.
