Preset doesn't show graphs?

Post by rsapsford »

I'm sorry if this has been covered but my seach didn't turn up any results.

I don't see any graphs in the "default" graph view (the one with the presets at the top of the page). If I click on a missing graph, I do see the detailed graphs.

Can someone point me where to start looking?

Thanks

Double check your RRDTool version setting in cacti matches the version you are running on your system.

I did check the rrdtool path. Wouldn't that cause ALL the graphs to be missing? I just don't see the ones in the default (preset) view. If I click on the missing graph, the others do show up.

Depends... :) Some syntax between the version is the same, some work, some don't.. :)

I verified the path is set correctly (in this case /usr/bin/rrdtool).

Anything else I can check? Any more information that would help?

The "details" graphs are fine. I enabled debug messages in the poller, but didn't see anything that looked weird (although as you can tell I'm no expert). Everything seems fine except for the first page (preset) graphs - or whatever they're called.

Thanks for the help!

I also just found out that if I "zoom" on one of the details graphs, it doesn't display.

So just to recap:
1. On the main graphs page for a host (the one with the preset values at the top), I get the red X.
2. If I click on the missing graph, I get the Viewing Graphs page which displays correctly.
3. If I zoom on one of the graphs on the Viewing Graphs page, I get the red X.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check that you don't have a stuck RRDTool process now. There has been reports of users having problems when zooming graphs.

Where did you get your RRDtool from? Compiled from source or install package.

What OS are you running?

I installed from rrdtool from rpm. I'm installing from source now to see if it helps. I don't see any "stuck" processes.

Also, the clear polling cache function doesn't seem to be working. Where is that kept? Permissions?

Installing rrdtool from source didn't help (although it did fix a problem with two colors on the graph).

SOLVED!!!

I did some digging and the difference between the kinds of graphs it would display and the kinds it wouldn't were the COMMENT lines. When I manually fed the parameters to rrdtool, it would error out on the COMMENT lines.

Um, yah, that a version issue between 1.0.x rrdtool and 1.2.x rrdtool. Again, make sure you have to correct version selected in the cacti settings.

I'm having the same problem, but I don't see where to select a version of RRD in the cacti configuration anywhere.

You must be running Cacti version 0.8.6d and then goto Settings->General.

You need to download the patches: http://www.cacti.net/downloads/patches/ ... re-patched

Then, you need to specify, at a minimum, Settings->Paths->Default RRD Font. If you want to customize font's and styles more, goto Settings->Visual and go wild.
