Old (deleted) host still being polled?
Hi guys,
the spec:
cacti 0.8.6d
freebsd 5.3-release
rrdtool 1.0.49
the problem:
when I first set the box up in the office I had it polling a 'test' box to make sure it can poll properly, the box it was polling was using the ip address 192.168.0.27.
Once the cacti box was on the clients site and configured to poll their devices I deleted the entry out of the 'devices' menu in the console part of the web frontend.
After checking the firewall onsite I can see the cacti box is still trying to poll 192.168.0.27 constantly on the SNMP port, but obviously this machine doesnt exist anymore (nor the network on that clients site).
I cannot find an entry anywhere for 192.168.0.27 on the web frontend, is there somewhere else I can look (like a file?) to see if there is an entry that points to this device?
Cheers,
William

Hi
try re-building your poller cache (System utilities -> Clear poller cache).

Do you have some data sources not attached to a host ?
You can find them under Data sources -> Select a host -> None

Sometimes the "Clear poller cache" function doesn't work. Try to truncate the poller_output table : http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=33816#33816

If the host has been deleted and you have cleared the poller cache. The only way that polling would be occuring is that you have left over Data Sources.
Please check you Data Sources again, by selecting None on the filter at the top and deleting any Data Sources that appear.
Also, there is another possibility. A poorly constructed script and data source attached to another host could be querying the host in question.
If you do not have any non-attached Data Sources, please post one pass of your Poller Log in Debug mode.

still doing it, will continue with suggestions.
Seems like it wasnt cacti at all (suprise suprise), it was another program I had completely forgot about. Sorry for wasting your time!
I worked this out by checking the firewall logs which told me the host was being polled every 5 minutes, the cron entry i have for cacti's poller isnt every 5 minutes so I found an offending crontab entry and its fixed it!
