for some reason the RRD's aren't getting created????

Hmmm, weird the are not getting created. I now notice that that there was no cacti2rrd portion in that debug output. Not sure if thats simply becaues you only ran cmd.php though (though that did it).

It still bothers me that you're unable to get a real debug output straight from cacti. Meaning, no web events being spit out (rrdtool graph etc) and only events related to the cacti process running. That would be the sure fire way to make sure everything is working.

You have the path to rrdtool set up properly?

I'm still in college in oregon. Finals are next week, so it'd have to wait till the following weekend.

All paths look good...

Any other ideas as to why I see this @ the cmd prompt?

Waiting on 1/1 pollers. (until the process terminates)

No idea on the cause or fix for the waiting pollers. I've gotten that simular problem before 2x (runaway cacti processes would kill the computer). They eventually went away after a while. TheWitness and myself could never track it down.

What extra non-cacti included scripts are you running?
Tried increasing cmd.php to 2 pollers?

woohoo, finally the debug output I've been looking for :)

1) do you have polling disabled, like the error message says?
2) Looks like rrdtool tries to create the rrd files. But since the files do not exist, it sounds like there is a permission problem. Double checked the NTFS security?
3) I forgot, what rrdtool version are you using?

nope... poller is enabled.

I've double-check my perms, and they look good.

I'm running rrdtool, which I grabed here under the win32 distro... the file / date stamp is 5.28.05.

I feel like I'm real close here.... :-?

If you are talking of the Win32 distro on the rrdtool.org web site, it is not currently compatible with Cacti. It has issues with a certain form of the update syntax. Try the distribution under the following: http://www.cacti.net/downloads

I enabled some object tracking / auditing on the cacti/rra folder... I can see where the scheduled task access this folder; however the process never tries to write, just read?

Rename your folder from upper case letters to lower case and see if that fixes it. So, instead of C:\HTTP\... make it c:\http\... I did this because of a PHP bug in 5.0.x. I may be able to remove that code, but has of yet not tested.

You also need to change the paths in Settings->Paths as well.

another possible find here is that I tried running one of the commands from the log above, manually @ a CMD prompt... this is what I got back.

Ahh, you have the infamous Duplate DS issue. You need to edit the Data Template "Interface - Traffic". There you will find a tabbed interface. You will find multiple "traffic_in" and "traffic_out" tabs.

To correct this situation, hover over each red X on the tabbed interface and note your status bar. In there, you will find "id=x". You need to delete all duplicate DS's with the exception of id=54 and id=55.

This will correct the problem. We are working searching on the source of this problem for some time and received a clue last week from a user. The author of Cacti is looking at that problem and likely providing a permanent fix for the 0.8.6 product line.
