64 bit counters template

Post by jfauteux »

do you guys have a graph template specifically for 64 bit counters? - although i can choose that when i create new graphs in the dropdown, i dont have an actual template called In/Out bits (64 bit counters) - makes me wonder if i'm really graphing that

First, use snmpv2. Then when you get to "Create Graphs", look for the drop down to the bottom right of the interface definitions. When you drop it down, you will find yourself quite pleased.

right - I'm able to choose that fine, but under graph templates, do you have a template named 64 bit counters? I cant find a template to edit in order to add ifDescr, ifAlias, etc

With Data Query based graphs, you must follow the procedure below. There, you will find Joy!

1) Edit "SNMP - Interface Statistics" Data Template
2) Edit "In/Out (Bits/Bytes) (64-Bit Counters)"
3) Add a Suggested name for Title As Such "title" "|host_description| - |query_ifAlias|"
4) Move it to the top of the list on suggested names.
5) If you already have graphs you want to convert to ifAlias, select them under graph management and then from the drop down select "Reapply Suggest Naming"

I have done exactly as stated above and have found some of the interface graphs change and some dont. Its not like all the GigE ports changed and the Fast Ethernets didnt, its a mixed bunch.

Edit: As i finshed writing this, I found that I had a check box marked in the graph template which caused my issues. :)

I had the same problem, kind off.

When I create 64-bit graphs my added line with ifAlias is there, but if I reapply the ifAlias disappears.

What I found, after many hours, is that when I reapply, Cacti uses the 32-bit template...

I guess that doesn't matter, the graphs are working, just a matter of adding ifAlias in the 32-bit template...

This is just to make others, who are having the same problem, to be able to search for an answer here. :)
