Larry,
I had a crash on my mSQL box this morning. When it came back up, cacti is now giving me "recache event for host ???" each time cacti polls and it is pushing me over the 5 minute limit. Any odea on how to get it back in synch?

That's interesting. I would disable your mysql host from Cacti and then manually recache and see what's happening.
