graph template: interface description

Post by red_rolla »

Hello All!

first of all this is an excellent software! :) and am just starting to discover its full potential.

in the graph template: interface - traffic (bits/sec).. how do u make the actual interface label in cisco routers to come out at the top of each graph

from:
my.home.router - Traffic - Fa0/0

to:
my.home.router - Traffic - Fa0/0 - connected to my.isp.com

thanks.

You need to goto Data Queries and then edit the interface one. For each of the selected types, you need to add:

title |host_description| - |query_ifAlias|

Make sure you place it towards the top of the list. Then, you need to select the graphs that you wish to alter and select "Reapply Suggested Names". Then, as long as there are ifAlias' associated with the interfaces, you will be all set.

Here's the mouse clicks i took:
Collection Methods
Data Queries
SNMP - Interface Statistics
Associated Graph Templates
In/Out Bits
Suggested Values
Data Template - Interface - Traffic
title |host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
Graph Template - Interface - Traffic (bits/sec)
title |host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|

i dont know if about the next part though..

" you need to select the graphs that you wish to alter and select "Reapply Suggested Names". Then, as long as there are ifAlias' associated with the interfaces, you will be all set."

i cant seem to find the "Reapply Suggested Names" anywhere.

can you show me which way to click :)

thanks.

Looks good to me. To "Reapply" you need to go to "Graph Management", select the graphs you want to reapply the naming to, and then from the Dropdown list at the bottom of the page, select "Reapply Suggested Names".
