Help needed to graph wireless signal strength

Post by Lewis »

well,

after 3 days and nights, the only way to solve my problem is to ask for help ;)

I'm trying to graph some wireless signal strength values..
i know the oid on my router..

Code: Select all

uom:~# snmpwalk -Os -c twmn-read -v 1 10.106.0.1 .1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3.0.2.111.33.50.21.4
enterprises.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3.0.2.111.33.50.21.4 = INTEGER: -64

i'm getting it from the beginning..
I create a new device as generic snmp enabled host.
then i go to new graphs and i create a new one based on snmp generic oid template
i enter an upper limit of 100 and a lower limit of -100
Data source type is set to Gauge
i go to graph management again, select this graph and i get this error message:

Code: Select all

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: opening '/usr/share/cacti/site/rra/wifiuom_snmp_oid_104.rrd': No such file or directory
after a few minutes this file is created, and permissions are set to www-data:www-data

the image is created, but its empty....
no data at all...

So, can anyone help me with this ?

Turn you Poller Logging Level to Debug in settings and post one pass of the poller from the cacti.log file.

Also, look in the poller cache for the correct entry. Sometimes a buggered up template will cause the data source to not be placed into the poller cache.

Code: Select all

05/20/2005 05:56:35 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] CACTI2RRD: /usr/bin/rrdtool update /usr/share/cacti/site/rra/wifiuom_snmp_oid_104.rrd --template snmp_oid 1116557795:-65
it seems that the poller gets the data (-65).

If "10.106.0.1" is the host in question, it's not even in the log. Which would lead me to say the same thing TheWitness did. Something is screwy with the template and it's not making it into the Poller Cache.

Double check your templates.

Updating to 0.8.6d is as simple as replacing files. However, you installed from RPM, that could have a lasting affect if you were to do that. I am not too sure I can help.

Install from source.. ;)

Although I do now have the Debian maintainer contact information for cacti. But to use cacti-0.8.6d you will have to install it manually.
