I have a bunch of graph templates and data templates that refer to net-snmp 'extend' MIB entries on our servers. They tend to come in groups:
qmail queuesize, smtp concurrency, pop3 concurrency and so on, all together.
What I'd like is a way to add groups of graphs to a host, all in one go. Like Host Templates, except that they can be overlaid more than one per host. I have a host that needs the DNS graph-set and the Qmail graph-set, but another one has Qmail and NNTPCache.
Currently, as far as I know, the only way to do this is graph-by-graph and datasource by datasource, which is pretty time-consuming.
graph-sets?

graph-sets?
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Re: graph-sets?
Why not add a host template with the QMail graphs, then a host template with the DNS graphs. You can then assign the host to the QMail, create graphs, then assign it to the DNS host template, and create the graphs. We you assign it to one group, and then the other, it will retains the old graph associations from the last host template.Howie wrote:I have a bunch of graph templates and data templates that refer to net-snmp 'extend' MIB entries on our servers. This is currently how we do it, as we have domain controllers, dns servers, IIS Servers, data servers, term servers, sql servers, and a few that are a mixture of a few of them. I have thought of integrating the ability to assign multiple host templates to a device, but its easy enough to just to it this way.

Um...
Why don't you create more than one host template?

Ummm, how do you apply more than one? There's just a single combo box in the Device screen.rony wrote:Um...

Or you can create different host templates for you common monitoring types.
Or reapply the host templates.
Or reapply the host templates.

The thing was that it was combinations of sets of graphs. No two systems have exactly the same set. I hadn't realised that you could change the Host Template and have it leave the old graphs behind. My mental model for it was more of a live-inheritance kind of thing - obviously that's just merony wrote:Or you can create different host templates for you common monitoring types.

With that in mind, I'll make the host templates.

There is a feature request for "sticky" templates. But, to date, it is not a priority.
