rrdtool compile problems

Post by caustic »

I'm new to cacti but I've been using MRTG for years. I've been following the instructions from the documentation section and I'm stuck compiling rrdtool.

I'm using rrdtool 1.2.3 on Windows 2000 server sp4. I've extracted all the files into c:\rrdtool. The instructions say to open the rrdtool.dsw file using Visual C++ 6.0 and compile it.

When I do I get the following error:

Compiling...
rrd_tool.c
c:\rrdtool\src\rrd_tool.h(15) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: '../confignt/config.h': No such file or directory
Error executing cl.exe

Maybe this questions belongs on an rrdtool board but can anyone here help with this? I'm not sure how to read the error. Is this a visual studio file that's missing or an rrdtool component that's missing or an environment variable that I missed? Thanks.

RRDTool 1.2.x is currently not supported in VCC. But it is supported in Cygwin. See the following link:

He sure didn't do a very good job of testing it... Still having lots of problems for me win MSVS 7.1. After getting all the source files copied over and compiled (I had to copy config.h into the libart_lgpl-2.3.17 dir), MSVS still is dying on:

rrd_xport.c
c:\Documents and Settings\BSOD2600\Desktop\rrdtool-1.2.6-win32-perl58\rrdtool\src\rrd_gfx.h(14) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'libart_lgpl/libart.h': No such file or directory

which comes from the line: #include <libart_lgpl/art_misc.h>

^^^ Was fixed by including the path to rrdtool-1.2.6-win32-perl58 to my MSVS global include directories.

Had to modify rrdtool and rrdcgi project -> linker ->input -> additional dependencies. Renamed ..\freetype-2.1.9\objs\freetype219.lib (remove the ST at the end)

Now the errors I'm getting is:
MSVCRT.lib(MSVCR71.dll) : error LNK2005: _longjmp already defined in LIBC.lib(longjmp.obj)

If I tell the linker to ignore msvcrt.dll, then I get other linking errors. If I tell the linker to ignore libc.lib, I also get other linking errors! *sigh* This program really wasn't ment to be compiled in Windows.
