Problem with graphics/poller

Post by Skipdog »

I created the scheduled task for the poller process. The main problem is I have no graphs. I was able to plug the new device in and it saw the interfaces. I created a new device and associated graphs. Worked great. The scheduled task is firing up a CMD windows box, and nothing is happening - it just sits there. I can't figure out how to troubleshoot it. As a side, do I need Perl loaded? I couldn't figure that one out.

Any ideas on the blank cmd prompt screen with nothing happening?

I found this in the cacti.log file:

04/30/2005 08:16:01 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 296 seconds exceeded. Exiting.

It seems the poller isn't completing, it looks like it really never does anything.

cactid

Post by Skipdog »

Can someone explain the relationship CACTID has with Cacti? I noticed in my config that the alternate poller path wasn't set. The instructions said to obtain cactid and put it in c:\cactid. I did this.. Three files. When I run cactid.exe manually I get the following:

C:\cactid>cactid
CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: MYSQL: Connection failed after 10 attempts : Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

I'm a little confused where the failure is occuring.

Search the forum for that last error and you'll find many posts.

What MySQL version you running? Cactid 0.8.6d does not work with mysql 4.1 and causes that error.

OK,

Well i'm ruling out Cactid since i'm not using that polling method. I'm now getting different errors in my cacti.log:

Hosts/Process: 3
04/30/2005 10:06:30 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[1] WARNING: Result from CMD not valid. Partial Result:
04/30/2005 10:06:31 PM - CMDPHP: Poller[0] Host[1] WARNING: Result from CMD not valid. Partial Result:

Completely different... Now, no graphs paint - it used to try to paint broken links - but now nothing.

I am running php 4.1... I couldn't get 4.0 to work properly permission wise either. I don't think i'm having permission problems now, I just can't get it to poll correctly. The black cmd screens that open are now coming up and going away (like I think they should) - fairly quickly, but not ultra (error like) fast.

working...

Post by Skipdog »

I was able to get it working.. I honestly have no idea what I did differently. I ended up deinstalling/reinstalling mysql 4.1 several times. Bottom line it is working and i'm pretty happy with the product.

Has anyone ever found a way to keep track of IIS6 SMTP queues?

WMI or snmp-informant should be able to do that for you.

Thanks - CPU Usage?

Post by Skipdog »

I think I got everything working.

BSOD or anyone - have you figured out how to get CPU Router usage working? I think when I add it for the routers - the graph never gets painted, and it ends up hosing up the collections for the other graphs. We are running Cisco 3840's.

The Cisco Router - 5 Minute CPU, template works just fine on my Cisco uBR924.

Manually walk to OID and see if you get a valid output. Might have to just use a custom OID template to get it to be graphed.
