Code: Select all

#./ping-latency.pl xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

But when I look at the graph it looks like I don't get data :s

Debug says:

Hi.

I'm running smoke ping for 24 hours and, since the begining, although the server as been always available, the graphs only show the last 5 minutes of availability. Meaning, each time the poller runs, it leaves the last 5 minutes showing the correct state but the rest of time becomes all red.

Any sugestions??

Looks like an issue with your data source.

I'm a little lost.

Can you be a bit more specific?

Thanks.

Not without seeing 1) RRDfile 2) Database Dump.

3 hour graph

Post by tamaqua »

Hello, has anyone tried shooting for a 3 hr graph like the orig smokeping has? Sometimes it is nice to see more recent activity in detail...

A 3 hr orig smokeping graph:

I have two different cacti systems using smoke pings and latency pings two non-snmp devices (community set blank, host template=none). One one system it works fine, on the other I have the exact same behaviour as noted above: scripts seems to work fine, but graph is red except for the last 5 minutes.

I checked that I'm using the exact same ping-latency script on both systems, I also run a "normal ping.pl" ping latency and that works fine. Same OS (Suse9.1) & same Cacti (latest+ patches).

I've been at this on and off for a few daysnow, there must be a solution, although I'm new to Cacti, so it may be staring me in the face..

The poller cache seems to report all OK; for both normal pingand smokeping:

View Poller Cache

RRD: /opt/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/ipplus_2_ping_69.rrd

The cacti log with debugging enabled, does not (to my eye) provide and clues either:

Quick followup, I see that the smoke ping rrd is not being updated, but ping.pl is:
ls -al /opt/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/ipplus_2*
-rw-r--r-- 1 wwwrun www 468988 Apr 26 07:55 /opt/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/ipplus_2_min_70.rrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 wwwrun www 71580 Apr 29 23:15 /opt/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/ipplus_2_ping_69.rrd

Would it help if I posted /opt/cacti-0.8.6c/rra/ipplus_2_min_70.rrd ?

Looks like a bug. When did this start to happen. Was it with the upgrade to 0.8.6d?

Yipee! After the upgrade it works!

Any suggestion about the other question in the thread of having more detailed graphs like 1 3 hour range.
