1st time user - error after installation

i searched the forums, but i didnt find answers to this, so i thought i would register & post. im new to this whole thing, so i dont understand all the terms used really well...so try to help in 'noob' terms :)

this is what i get when i go to the page after installation. im running the newest versions of php,mysql,apache,etc...and im running it on XP Pro. Any suggestions? im getting a lot of errors!

1) Check security settings on the Cacti directory, cmd.exe, and php.exe. make sure the web user has read rights.

2) I see you're using the tmp directory... that should only be needed for older version of PHP. Re-read the Win32 install instructions.

3) Did you create the mysql cacti account? Did you edit the config.php file and put in the cacti user info?

4) List the versions of mysql, php, cacti, etc you're using.

how do you give access rights on a specific file? i just did it on the entire system32 folder cuz i couldnt figure it out

this is driving me nuts :( i keep trying everything and i can not get it to work at all~!

Get properties on a file, click on the security tab. If it is not present, then you are using the FAT32 filesystem (bad idea) and security on files is not an option.

I was under the impression the allowing access to cmd.exe was only for
IIS installs.
Or at least the docs seem to indicate that.
The user above is using apache2.
Am I incorrect?

While cmd.exe needs proper rights assigned to it too, so does the other programs and folders cacti will use.
