I just finished setting up all my devices on the Win32 version after migrating from Linux. The cmd poller is working fine but I remember Cactid on linux was a million times better so I was setting it up on Windows as well. When I switch to Cactid I get the following errors below. Been serching around the forums cant seem to fix it. Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated. Thanks!

1) Try using cmd.php and see if you still get this.
2) Enable full debug output and post the contents.
3) You have all the permissions set up properly? What happens when you manually run cactid ?

- cmd.php works
- this actually is the debug log
- Running it manually I think is the key. At first I was getting the following
D:\cactid>cactid
CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: MYSQL: Connection failed after 10 attempts : Access denied for user 'cac
tiuser'@'servername.domainname.com' (using password: YES)
So I started playing with the conf file and mysql. I added a user named cactiuser@servername.domainname.com (already had @localhost) and changed the IP from 127.0.0.1 to the actual server's IP. Now I get this
D:\cactid>cactid
CACTID: Using cactid config file [cactid.conf]
CACTID: MYSQL: Connection failed after 10 attempts : Client does not support aut
hentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
And even when I change it back it still gives me this. Odd. My conf file is also below...
DB_Host 10.5.1.57
DB_Database cacti
DB_User cactiuser
DB_Pass thepassword

What MySQL and Cactid version you using? I know there is an issue with mysql 4.1 and cactid 0.8.6d (not sure about e) not working properly. Going back to cactid 0.8.6c uses the older mysql library so it should work.

I don't see a major reason to switch unless the polling comes close to the 5 minute mark. Currently, that's not going to happen:
SYSTEM STATS: Time: 72.4605 s, Method: cmd.php, Processes: 1, Threads: N/A, Hosts: 11, Hosts/Process: 11
As per your problem, there was a recent thread here: http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=6730 but was not resolved.
