Email messages not being sent.

Post by KevinNoall »

I've just realized that at some point my system stopped sending email alerts. I've gone in and verified that the settings all look correct.
I disabled, uninstalled updated, reinstalled an renabled Monitor plugin with no luck.
The error i get when testing a send shows....

Could be SELinux or some other service blocking tcp access from the web server, or some other connectivity issues. Suhosin used to wreck Cacti years ago.

I've checked and selinux is disabled. I've not had any other issues that I've noticed, just this one vm server is having the issue

Best of luck. The error message is clear.

Is there a CLI command I can use to test manually?

I've validated that I can connect to the outbound server using SWAKS in bash. Connects and establishes TLS, etc.
So it does appear to have connectivity from the OS at least.

After some additional troubleshooting this appears to be an issue with advanced authentication that Outlook/Hotmail now requires. I switched to a different account on a separate mail system and was able to authenticate as expected without the OAUTH requirement.

I would argue that the original error message is not correct. Cacti cannot authenticate properly, it's not an issue with connectivity.

So a workaround, not a fix.
