Stop Re-alerting Emails

Post by duwijakarta »

Hello Please Help me, I need advice

We're trying to setup Cacti so we don't receive re-alerting emails - with a desired outcome of receiving an email when a device is down and one for when the device has returned.
With the current setup we are receiving sporadic re-alerts every 10-30 minutes as shown in the images.

I've tried setting the 'Re-Alerting' option value to 1 but it is still occurring.
I'm sure there is something simple I'm overlooking and any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Configuration -> Settings -> Device Defaults tab -> Up/down settings and Management -> devices -> choose any -> Host Failure Count

maybe you get an up/down warning because you have these limits set too low and the device drops out, then responds for 1 poller cycle and then not again

if my setup is like this is it ideal?
Or is there any recommendation so that the alert doesn't repeat itself over a short period of time?

Failure Count = 2
Recovery Count = 3

Poller Sync Every Interval 30 minutes
Poller Interval Every 30 seconds

I can't say which configuration is best for your device. We don't know how often your device is unresponsive or how long it takes to reboot.

If the device is down for a certain period of time, I want to apply only 1-2x warnings before the device returns to normal.

It is cacti normal behavior. If device is down for specific Failure Count poller cycle, email is send.

Which cacti version?
