Graph image HEX Characters & Zoom issues

Post by amctool »

Hello,

Just setup Cacti more or less following these instructions except Mysql instead of MariaDB:
https://www.howtoforge.com/how-to-insta ... ntu-20-04/

Having an issue where the graph images are showing weird Hex characters inside rectangles instead of text. I've seen someone else had this issue with no resolution.

Also not seeing any way to zoom in on the graph.

Any help would be appreciated..

The latest. 1.2.26. First I tried from ubuntu packages but that gave me an older version..

I'll give those instructions a try, but very similar to what I had tried.

Thanks...

Try to change Configuration -> settings -> general -> RRDtool version
Try to change Configuration -> settings -> Visual -> Font selection method

Show management -> graphs -> choose any -> Turn on graph debug mode -> show rrdtool command

You can try run this rrd command in shell, maybe you get any warning/error:
/usr/local/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=SVG \
--start='-86400' \
...
...
GPRINT:cdefe:MAX:'Maximum\:%8.2lf %s\n' > something.svg

Thanks Macan.

It was this setting that resolved the issue:

Code: Select all

Try to change Configuration -> settings -> Visual -> Font selection method
I changed it from "Theme" to "System", thanks for the help.

The only other issue I see is that I cannot zoom in on a graph - I'm assuming I should be able to?

tks...

Thanks for the suggestion but that (browser/cache) did not work. There are no icons to click for zooming, and if you double click the graph image, nothing happens. Right clicking the graph brings up the same menu you get right clicking any image. If I try to select a subset of the time in the graph by left clicking and dragging across the graph - it just drags the whole image..

Something to do with RRDtool and SVG output. Try switching to PNG for your templates and see if the output is better. Use RRDtool 1.8 if possible.
