Certain types of graphs no longer work for snmp_v3 nodes after a side by side upgrade to Cacti Version 1.2.25

Post by pdv »

Hi,
We have performed a side-by-side upgrade from REL7, Cacti Version 1.2.15 to REL8, Cacti Version 1.2.25.
However, on the new system, snmp_v3 nodes are no longer generating specific types of graphs.
I am also encountering the error: SNMP: Error generating SNMPv3 Ku from privacy passphrase.
I can fix this by selecting the 'cmd.php' poller option in the GUI instead of 'spine.' However, this leads to another error: Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting.
Making Real-time graphs always works well.

Please advise.

Kind regards,

Hi,
According to System Utilities, Technical Support, Summary, General Information: NET-SNMP version: 5.8
I also see in the PHP Information section: PHP Version 7.2.24
PHP SNMP : Installed. Note: If you are planning on using SNMPv3, you must remove php-snmp and use the Net-SNMP toolset.
Kind regards,

so php -m shows snmp module installed? If yes, please deinstall it and restart web server.
Did you update spine? Which version do you have?

We have performed the following actions:
rpm –e –nodeps php-snmp
systemctl restart httpd
systemctl restart php-fpm
php /var/lib/cacti/cli/push_out_hosts.php
server restart
No improvement
We use SPINE 1.2.25

I solved my issue by making/leaving the SNMP privacy protocol field empty in the data template.
Due to the upgrade, the field was filled with AES. In the Device properties this field was due to the upgrade already filled with AES-128 (the option AES is not available anymore in this new version). By leaving the field empty in the Data template the "value will be derived from the device" is the tip you receive when hovering over the field with the mouse.
