Avoiding the rrdtool data resampling

Post by ahlund »

Maybe I'm missing something but...

Is there any way to avoid the data resampling done by rrdtool when the rrd update does not happen at the exact right second? If I understand it correctly it would, in theory, be possible for cacti to have an option to use the "rrd correct" timestamp when updating the rrdfile but I can not find a way to tell cacti to do that.

In some cases the resampling does not make any sense and sometimes it actually produces unusable data.

I think that's into the 20% land. I'm assuming that this is a counter right? I would increase the heartbeat and just deal with it myself. If your RRDfiles are not organized on the hour, that would likely be a consequence of a bug introduced some time ago and corrected in either 1.2.15 or 1.2.16.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
