Re: polling timed out while acquiring Available Thread Lock

Post by cksrealm »

So both the pollers need to have the config updated for the remote poller. In the case of the main poller being say 192.168.100.1 and the remote poller being 10.0.0.1 would the main poller need the RDB config pointing to 10.0.0.1 and the remote poller with the RDB pointing to 192.168.100.1 so essentially the same config in mirror image?

Hope that makes sense

The RDB stuff only goes on the remotes. You can test connectivity from the Data Collectors page. So, on remote, do that, on the main server, edit the remotes and make sure you can 'Test Connection' for the forward path.

Remotes will have the RDB_Host as 192.168.100.1

Before you say it, I know it's counter-intuitive. Too late now...

Yeah thats what I figured and only have the RBD config on the remotes, testing in Data-Collectors shows success, However for some reason the remote one is still over running its cycle and stating.

PID[286921] Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting

When I run ./spine -R -V 3 -S -p=2 on the remote poller
it completes in
Total[0.4484] Device[416] HT[1] Total Time: 0.27 Seconds
Total[0.7255] Time: 0.7254 s, Threads: 10, Devices: 1

Should I run the above on the mainpoller?

From the main poller, you 'should' be able to access the remote. Have you tested the connections from:

Console > Data Collection > Data Collectors > Edit

Yup that test from the Main Poller to the remote poller works great, its just when I run that command from the main poller IM getting the error message.
Logs on the remote polller are not showing anything either that I can see and when I run the /spine -R -V 3 -S -p=2 from the remote poller (2) is completes in under a second. Any other logs I can turn on or provide?

The way it got fixed thanks to @TheWitness was to go into Configuration--Settings--Paths.
In there remove the path to the Spine Config File Path. Seems strange to do it but it worked a treat for me.

let me know how you go.
