Using Cactid - poller issues - help

Post by eholz1 »

Hello Members,

I know this question has been asked either hundreds or thousands of times.
Forgive me for asking again. I am using cacti-1.2.19 currently.

I have 400 devices being polled using "cactid" and the data collector is running 6 processes
with 6 threads. The virtual machine has 6 cpus.
My poller cron/daemonis set to 5min, and I use a 1 min setting for the poller interval.

I am not using cron to run poller.php, etc. I am using spine.
I WARNING: Cacti Polling Cycle Exceeded Poller Interval by 13.603802919388 secondsget poller overrun messages often - this this one:

Can any one provide a method or process to discover what is causing these perioding overruns?

Thanks So Much,
eholz1

Balance your concurrent processes, or better yet switch to spine if you have not. Spine is massively parallel compare to cmd.php.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Hello Witness et al,

Thanks. So it seems that I have misunderstood the usage of cactid - so, cactid uses cmd.php?
I will switch back to using cron and spine. I guess I miss-read the file in "cacti-home"/services/README.

Thanks Again,

No, cactid uses either. It's just a launch method.
