New install on Fedora 38 ping IPv6 issue

Post by JohnL »

Hi,
New user setting up for first time. Mostly wanting to use this for alerting if something goes offline.

Running Cacti on Fedora as a VM on HyperV. Two NICs one connecter to an IPv4 VLAN and one to an IPv6 VLAN. From the Fedora VM I can ping to both IPv4 and IPv6 IPs without issues.

I followed the guide at https://my-techie-guy.blogspot.com/2020 ... oring.html to install
(About Cacti - Version 1.2.23) - there doesn't seem to be an rpm for 1.2.24

sudo php /var/lib/cacti/scripts/ss_fping.php [IPv6 address] does return
min:0.7740 avg:0.9843 max:1.9100 dev:0.4146 loss:0.0000

I set up SNMP on a windows server using IPv6 and shows it is up.
I set up ICMP Ping on a windows server using IPv4 shows it is up.
I set up ICMP Ping on a windows server using IPv6 shows it is down.

I did see the post about setting the timeout higher. I have tried up to 9000

I feel like I am missing something obvious..

can you confirm IPv6 is working at the OS level ?
ping6 to another IP ?

from the cacti side you dont need to adjust timeouts or anything
You can also enable device debug to see what outputs its getting when cacti issues the ping

Spine icmp ping still does not support ipv6, but SNMP ping does
