Since it was a fresh install i ran the FC2 updates. Now I get this:

PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in /var/www/html/cacti/lib/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 339
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Yah, though so, search the forums for mysql old password. This is an issue with the mysql client using an old password format and the new mysql server using a new password format.

I searched the archives for this and 9 million articles come up when you search for mysql new password format. Does anyone know the direct link to the post?
Thanks in advance,
