Automation: Device discovery notification problem

Post by genkuzya »

Hello everybody!
A few days ago I installed a new version of Cacti (Cacti Version 1.2.24) on Ubuntu 22.04 and started testing. I was very glad to have Weathermap support already. And I like the Automation tool very much. But I have some problems with Discovery Notification from this tool, which is sent by email. The Discovery tool found plenty number of devices according to the criteria, but in the e-mail it says:
Summary
Network: 10.44.4.0/23
Started: 2023-01-27 09:46:37
Duration: 175
Existing: 0 devices
New: 0 devices
But when I try to disable the "Automatically Add to Cacti" option and run discovery it shows the correct number of discovered devices. What I'm doing wrong, can someone explain or show me the correct direction to get the correct number of devices even if it is automatically added to the Cacti?

Log a bug on GitHub, make sure you show examples.

Is it actually a bug?
And there are no relevant logs for this situation

I found logs, but I cannot share them. It contains too much confidential information. Well anyway, just in case if someone will have the same problem, just let him/her know, he/she is not alone :-)

Got some logs for the problem situation:

1. In the first case I have disabled the "Automatically Add to Cacti" option and got the following logs and email:

Logs:

Screen Shot 2023-01-31 at 09.03.01.png (241.63 KiB) Viewed 402 times
Email:

Screen Shot 2023-01-31 at 09.08.26.png (37.7 KiB) Viewed 402 times

Next, I enabled the "Automatically Add to Cacti" option and got the following logs and email:

Logs:
Screen Shot 2023-01-31 at 18.12.27.png
Screen Shot 2023-01-31 at 18.12.27.png (273.34 KiB) Viewed 402 times
Email:

Screen Shot 2023-01-31 at 18.18.24.png (16.62 KiB) Viewed 402 times
As seen from the logs, there are graphs added but in the end, 0 devices were found.

You should look into Automation Device Templates. There are three parameters. You just have to get the regex right to get those devices into Cacti properly.

Actually, the problem is not with automatically adding devices into the Cacti. The problem is with the report at the end. Even if Automation added devices, generated message, which is sent via email at the end, reports 0 devices added.
