Problem about Poller and Data Collectors

Post by josephlui0912 »

Hi all.
I am a new user and now I try to install a new Cacti application to check if Cacti is good enough for our office. After installation, I found that no graph had been displayed with the error poller had not been enabled. I think the problem is due to the Data Collectors' problem as the status of the data collector shows the message "Heartbeat". I Googled the solution and try to fix it by myself but the status is still the same. May I ask if anyone can help me?

Your cron is wrong. It appears to have an extra 1 on the front of it.

Do you see a SYSTEM STATS line in the cacti log? If not, your poller is still not running, and it is most likely still your cron entry. You might try using "crontab -e" as root to edit the cron file instead of manually editing the /etc/crontab file.

I checked the log and cannot find any log related to the keywords. I tried to update the information you provide but still with the same results.

1) use cactid systemd service
2) run the convert_innodb.php with the --innodb and --dynamic options

With syslog so large, you may have to increase the row count on converting the syslog table.

So it seems like you are logged in as joseph, and editing your own crontab (according to the screen shot). Did you swap to the root user and then run the command?

Also, you don't need 2 of the pollers running. Remove the first one, and then remove the word "root" from the second, as you shouldn't be specifying the user when editing a user crontab.

Thank you for your help and I am allowed to monitor those devices. Thank you.

BTW, how should I set send an email again after the first email (with the message that a device is down) for maybe 10 minutes?
