Hi,
I'm going through the manual and trying to understand things at a bit deeper level than showing the basic preconfigured data. I'm readying Ch11 on Data Input Methods and it suggests that when creating a new Data Input Method you ought to be able to configure a Type as "Script/Command', 'SNMP', 'SNMP Query', or 'Script Query.'
I'm using version 1.2.22 but I only seem to have: 'Script/Command' or 'Script Server' as choices.
I'm look to use SNMP queries to obtain data right now but can see the value of scripts to obtain the data as well.
Thanks!
Rob

Re: New Data Input Methods
The snmp and snmp-query Data Input Methods are 'system' level and therefore both hidden and not customizable. But you will find that they have comprehensive coverage.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Re: New Data Input Methods
Thank you.
I will open a documentation bug as you suggest.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding things but I was thinking that I needed to use a SNMP/SNMP Query to create a new Data Input Method. IE, use it and specify an OID, say, to pull that's OIDs value and this would create a new Data Input Method.

Re: New Data Input Methods
For snmp you don't need a new data input method, you can go directly to the Data and Graph templates. It's much faster.
