Time in State

Post by mib19 »

Hi, sorry for my english
i installed cacti 1.2.23, in debian 11.5
i have problem with time in state
when I go status from Up->Down->Up status
in state time continues from where it stopped before the down

example: Status Up, in state 5h:50m
step down for 10 minutes
I go back status to Up, in state it starts at 5h:51m
I want it to always start from 0 after a down
it's possible?
Thank you :-)

If I remember correctly - in state is joined with snmp uptime. Your cacti can be disconnected and devices is still up. Cacti is connected again and "in state! continue because snmp uptime keeps running
Let the Cacti grow!

Time in state is just what it means. The time since the device changed state. If it was down, and then came back up, it "should" show the time since it last went down. But this function has undergone some changes by new developers in recent years, and it may have preferred snmp uptime instead of the time since the device last changed states. One would have to review that function to see if it prefers snmp uptime to the last failed/restored time.
