Cacti idb files corrupt - cant start db?

Post by jtzako »

I inherited an old cacti server from a previous admin and today the db crashed. I think I have determined that two idb files are corrupted.

specifically these two:
poller_output_boost_arch_1657882555.ibd
poller_output_boost.ibd

I'm waiting to hear back from the tape backup folks to see if there is a backup of those. However, in the mean time, is there a way to get the db to start if these files cant be loaded?

I've tried innodb_force_recovery in modes 1, 2 and 3 to no avail.

Update: I've managed to restore those 2 files and the 3 related files (ibdata1, ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1) and got the mariadb to start again.

Now a new question: I think this might be due to the disk space filling up and I noticed that poller_output_boost_arch_1657882555.ibd is 120G. Is that expected? is there a way to compact it somehow?

You should drop and recreate those tables. Likely they were corrupted when the file system ran out of space.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

I was able to restore from a backup and get the system back up on a new disk. I am still having some errors though, I will create a new post with that info.
