In my test environment, when I add a new nodes there are no RRD files created.
I add the host on the GUI, add graphs, the polling is working. When I run the spine in debug I can see that its fetching values from the OIDs for the graphs.
However in cacti the graphs show as broken images. When I check the debug it states that the rrd files do exist but in reality they are not there when I check from command line:

Likely a permission problem. If you are not on 1.2.21, get there. If the system is new and you are not at 1.2.21, just to a full re-install on that version.
