how to limit Cacti data size
I noticed my Cacti server VM size is growing 300MB after 1 day polling of only 4 devices. How do I limit the data retention so it wont grow beyond limit? I only set 30GB for this VM.

Define what you mean by "cacti server vm size". It's not really clear.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Re: how to limit Cacti data size
FYI. My Cacti VM config is set for 25 GB and it's been running for years . It's only maybe at 10 GB with just under 100 devices being polled in 1 minute intervals. If this is a new install, that growth should be expected. All the RRD files will be created taking up space, but once created, they will remain relatively the same in size as the contents are rolled within the file. Check you size growth after a few days. It should stabilize.

My Cacti is installed in VM.
Okay, I'll keep monitoring the size.

This is what I recorded. when setup total of 19 devices, size grew 300MB in 3 days. Is it normal?

Re: how to limit Cacti data size
Basically there are a few things that grow:
- RRD files ( these are static in size once greated, but the number of files grow with each new device/graph/data source
- Log files ( i.e. cacti.log These grow unless you ahve some mamangement (or limited them by disabling/reducing the loging level)
- Database ( pretty static, except for some tables which are temporarly filled.
