The 0.98a is a working version.

You should look into cacti.log or the error log of apache to see the error you have.

That looks like the message you'd get from checking out master from github
(don't do that - it's incomplete)
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

So there's a new cacti 0.98a with the same version number as the old one that doesn't run on cacti 1.x? I'm probably missing something obvious. Well anyway, so code -> download zip from git repo will get me the new version?

Basically, yes. There is a fork by phalek that runs on Cacti 1.x, but still 0.98a.

I will probably archive the original sometime, or at least strip out the Cacti-specific stuff - it's still used by other folks. But in the original github repo, the master branch is the rewrite I worked on for a couple of years before other events made it pointless. The one that the last of my releases came from is 0.98-php7, and there is an equivalent 0.98-php8, which is incomplete work on php 8 updates, both based on the pre-rewrite code (i.e. minimal changes for php compatibility)

You want this one for Cacti 1.x: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=60353

Thanks Howie, but I'm not a git user and I'm also susceptible to cognitive dissonance. Are you saying I go to this link, and click the 'code' button and 'download zip'?

https://github.com/thurban/plugin_weathermap

Even though the CHANGES file says "IMPORTANT NOTE 2: THIS RELEASE DOES NOT WORK WITH CACTI 1.x! You will want version 1.0+ for that."

Ups :-)

@Howie: I guess it makes sence to somehow rename the plugin. If you are not developing it anymore at all, then I'd change the version to 1.x.x so it's clear that its the one compatible with Cacti 1.x.x

then that changelog would actually be true again as well ;-)

I'm starting work on doing some cleanup and PSR for a native version of the work started by Thomas. You can find it here. Spent a lot of work over the weekend, but it's not ready for any production deployment.

https://github.com/TheWitness/plugin_weathermap

Notes from my first commit:

First pass of Cacti PSR and auditing of plugin

* Several files yet to be completed
* Found what appears to be unfinished feature work
* Some legacy PDO conversion yet to be done
* PHP-Documentation yet to be done
* Need Howies approval on copyright header
* i18n done on setup.php file, but other files are all TBD
* Database creation and alteration now using Cacti functions
* INFO file now used for versioning
* ToDo: Audit poller process. Seems like it may not be optimized
* ToDo: Audit dsstats process
* ToDo: Audit remaining PDO type queries
* ToDo: Unit and System Testing
* ToDo: Properly CLI support where required
