Be sure that you added it in all php.ini's. They started moving to having separate ones for Web vs CLI (hence the 2 sections now). Also ensure you restart apache after changing it.

[root@monitoreox ~]# find / -name php.ini
/etc/php.ini
[root@monitoreox ~]#

there is only one php.ini file

also restart the apache service, even restart the server.

You have to restart apache after updating the date.timezone.

This is really odd, I ran into same issue trying update to 1.2.21 (from 1.2.19) and phpinfo on the same host showed the timezone correct but cacti continued to complain it not being set. Also Apache restart didn't made difference. Only a reboot of the server helped.

Likely cause you are on a RHEL8+ variant where you have to also restart php-fpo.

Well I am on Gentoo and I restarted php-fpm (not sure if you mistyped)
Anyway, guess it must have been some service that was still in memory and not restarted as the reboot fixed it. Just hope it might help others.

Yea, brain and mind were not entirely in sync.
