Poller issue

Post by WTem »

Hi all,

Could you please help me to guess why my poller do not poll for every devices ?

Lets focus on Device ID 753 and Data Source ID 1950

I launch spine poller manually for device 753 (see spine.txt) - look good
check cacti.log file (see cactilog.txt) - look good
check rrdtool lastupdate for DS 1950 (see rrdtool.txt) - look good

I waited 15mn, nothing new in logs for device 753 nor DS 1950
I launch "/usr/bin/php /var/www/html/cacti/poller.php --force --debug" and I have a lot of the message: "Waiting on 1 of 2 pollers"
Still no updates for device 753 nor DS 1950

I don't see any error concerning device 750 or DS 1950, it just do nothing

Best Regards,

Try Troubleshooting-> data sources
grep "SYSTEM STAT" /path/to/cacti.log is poller finishing on time?

Here the result of the command

I believe RRDsProcessed stat is very low

Ok, it is clear now. Your poller doesn't finish the job on time.
Try to sort your hosts by poll time and try to resolve long poll time hosts. You can try reduce snmp/ping timeouts and number of retry attempts.
Here in forum you can find more information about poller overtime

You are running all those hosts / graphs on a single thread. Under the Main Poller, increase the numbers of processes to be equal to the number of CPUs, and then increase the threads to 12.

Thank you cigamit
The server got 4 vCPU, as you advised I configured the main poller to use 4 processes and 12 threads

I changed memory_limit to 1024M in php.ini and my problem was solved.
