php main poller consuming memory continuously

Post by bradymd »

Hi

I use cacti but far from an expert at configuring it.

I am on Rocky8.4 and just updated cacti to 1.2.19 by running "yum update"

Sadly the php main poller process just consumes memory very quickly until it runs out.

I have edited poller.php to cap it at 1GB (before this was set to -1 unlimited it seems).

Watching top I've seen it climb quicky to 2.7GB before I killed it ( it will cause problems with mysqld and oom will kick in).

But this has just happened now after the upgrade so a bit strange. I've upped the RAM on the VM but it really can run and run to consume everything.

Has anyone seen this or can anyone give me a steer on fixing it?

Thank-you

I ran into this yesterday and with some Google searching, I came upon the following Github issue. It basically states to downgrade your <cacti>/lib/poller.php file to a previous version.

https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/4460

I was on version 1.2.16 before I upgraded to 1.2.19 via "yum update" on Alma 8. I pulled the suggested file from the prior day's backup and I'm back to polling again without running the server out of RAM. I plan to run this way until the Github issue is resolved.

Yay, many thanks trayhons, that looks to be the issue.
Your advice, downgrading the lib/poller.php to 1.2.16 is working for me.
The fix currently mentioned on issue https://github.com/Cacti/cacti/issues/4 ... -973400039 didn't work for me.
I only have 96 devices, didn't think I was a big site.
