Datasource with COUNTER and small max value overflow

Post by tbonesixtynine »

Hi,

Im graphing some homebrew electronic devices, and due to the nature of my communications protocol - which I cant modify for the time being - I only have 13 bits to supply counter values. So I have set the overflow in my microcontrollers to 5000. Im using data sources of type COUNTER with max value of 5000, but on high rates (like > 0.5 increments per second and higher) Im getting gaps in my graphs. While monitoring the output of my devices the gaps are always at overflow moments.. . I did some reading about this and it seems that overflow checking is only done at 32 or 64bit limit. Is there a way to tell cacti that this max value of 5000 should be used for overflow calculation or am I missing something?
All help appreciated, thanks!

Regards,
tbone
