I am setting up cacti to monitor a switch network and I'm doing some tests with SW100.
I installed this plugin: monitor e thold.
I connected the SW100 via snmp and all in ok.
Now I want to config only if SW100 go DOWN. So I unplug the network cable from the switch.
The times to detect the DOWN of the switch and the "returned from DOWN state" are very very long!!!
What are the parameters to be set to shorten this times?
In the mail notification body:
Current ping response: 11.49 ms
Average system response: 105.90 ms
System availability: 62.50 %
Total Checks Since Clear: 16
Total Failed Checks: 6
Last Date Checked UP: 2021-08-24 11:35:03
Device Previously DOWN for: 15m 3s
Thanks.
Paul.

Re: monitor plugin: timer, polling ecc very long time
Thank you for your reply.
Now I set:
Failure Count: 1
Recovery Count:1
In the Configuration -> Settings -> Poller,
I have Poller Interval: Every 5 Minutes
So now it seems to me that every 5 minute check if the switch is up or down and consequentially send an email alert.
I would like that the check was done at intervals less than 5 minutes.
1) Should i change the poller parameter?
2) What does it mean that I have to re-populate the poller cache?
3) Is it a difficult procedure to do?
Thank you in advance.
