Moving main and remote pollers to new hosts, problem with remote

Post by sbotnick »

Hello,

I'm moving my main and remote pollers to new hosts. Old hosts are CentOS8 the new hosts are RHEL8, all instances are Cacti v1.2.16

Moving the main poller went smoothly, configuration and data all appear good.

Moving the remote poller is failing, I tried using it with the db I imported from the old remote poller, as I did on the main poller and with a fresh cacti db as if it were a new installation.
Either way, when I go to the cacti page on the remote, I get sent to the installer login page: http://remote.poller.local/cacti/install/install.php

When I try to log in this is the result in cacti.log:

05/25/2021 23:45:19 - AUTH LOGIN: Local Login Failed for user 'admin' from IP Address '10.10.10.10'.

I did run a password reset for the user in the db to no avail: mysql> update user_auth set password=md5('admin') where username='admin';

If I run the poller, there is another clue in cacti.log:

05/25/2021 22:20:01 - POLLER: Poller[3] Poller is upgrading from pre Cacti 1.0, exiting till upgraded

Any ideas on what is going on? TIA

Solved. Operator error, database password for the local DB was incorrect.

Question remains: Configure the remote poller as new or import the db?
