Cannot run upgrade with guest user

Post by sbotnick »

Hello,

I just updated to 1.2.16 from 1.2.11. My system is configured for the cacti webpage access as a guest user with no login. The guest user has few privileges. Now when I go to my cacti page, it redirects to https://<hostname>/cacti/install/ and gives me an index instead of the Cacti interface to upgrade. Where do I go from here? Thanks for any assistance.

You will have to fix your configuration to allow you to login as something other than guest. We will never allow the guest user to go through the upgrade process, that is just a security nightmare waiting to happen.

Understood. I do have other users configured with admin privileges.

I was able to get a Cacti login prompt by going to this URL:

http://<hostname>/cacti/install/install.php?data={%22Step%22:%221%22,%22Eula%22:false}

Sorry to have bothered. Next up, solving the timezone problem...

if you went to /instlal/ that should have given you the installation page. However, you need to make sure you prefix that with the base path of your cacti system. eg, if you normally goto https://my.cacti.net/my/sub/cacti/site, then you would need to goto https://my.cacti.net/my/sub/cacti/site/install/ which should launch the upgrade wizard. If you have cacti at the route of the site, then going to /install/ should have worked.

One final thing I noted, you said you were upgrading from 1.2.16 to 1.2.11... that's actually downgrading (unless you meant 1.1.16) and we don't really support downgrading (you should roll back to backups if you are doing that).
