GAPS in Realtime graphs

Post by jbh2547 »

not sure what to think. searched on boards and google and didn't find anything. Basically, i hit the realtime button on any graph and i get gaps. it doesn't gap in the poller created graphs just in realtime operation. I have so far, deleted contents of /realtime/cache directory just in case, and no change. It happens nomatter what i have the graph time or refresh rate set to. just looking to see if anyone else has seen this before and may have a solution that they have seen.

thanks,

Jeff

UPDATE. the gaps only appear when i go below 10 seconds in the interval. 10 seconds and above and gaps pop in every cycle.

This is more of a problem with your switch. It does not support realtime counters and you are sampling too frequently.

thanks for the information. my only problem is on the same VM farm with same DB (although 1.2.16 was upgraded), my 0.8.8 version will do 5 second samples just fine with the plugin. Just wondering what/if any tweaking can be done with the realtime portion of cacti on my end.

and working for an ISP, our switches do support realtime stats because we use different systems to montior that sort of thing for SLA reporting and such.

Well, there is no feature in Realtime to adjust the default 'step', in your case it should be 10. I think it was either 5 or 10 in Cacti 0.8.x, but it was lowered to handle devices that can work in a more realtime fashion.

understood, so is there a way i can remove the choices for 5, 2 and 1 seconds from the list? this is customer facing and they will always try to go to the shortest available. just trying to head off questions at the pass.

thanks,

Add a feature request on github. It's a minor change. I'm sure it can be done in the 1.2.17 release.
